Features of this course
Medical professionals must always make choices for the common good of the
patients. However, healthcare scenarios and settings are complex, and taking
the right decision while facing a situation may be difficult. It is essential for
medical professionals to understand the legal implication of their actions and
decisions for them and their patients, more so when the number of medico-legal
cases is increasing rapidly. Likewise, legal professionals who aspire to handle
cases involving medical laws find it difficult to understand the complex
healthcare situations in view of their personal beliefs. Thus, it is important
for both medical and legal professionals to understand medical laws objectively
in order to practice successfully.
This course gives both the conceptual and practical application of
medico-legal guidelines, medical ethics, landmark judgments
and effective strategies to prevent and defend medical negligence litigation.
The primary goal of this course is to help the learner think independently and
become sensitive to the risks and issues that encompass the healthcare field.
